There is a new CTWW challenge post on Eco-Crap
See you there.
Top Bar
I used to have many separate blogs, but rather than repeat that exercise for Google to destroy again, I have added the blogs as separate pages here on the Top Bar. I will add past posts as I recover them from other sources, but will also add new posts as the occasion arises; so always check, there's bound to be something new.

Thanks for the update on the CFLs ... I've got to take some time and read through your suggested links.
ReplyDeleteYou're right ... if the community government doesn't care about picking up trash, then why should individuals. And for those who do care, it become a defeating process ... motivation would be difficult if every bin looked like that orange thing in your picture (overflowing). Bravo for taking people to task ... I'll bet that guy on the bus does think twice the next time he goes to toss paper out the window.
@SF, I thought it important and spent some time this morning checking it out after Rachel's comment. Things today are not always what they seem to be. Everything needs to be investigated, because the manufacturers won't tell you the truth, neither will the mainstream media, nor the govt.
ReplyDeleteThe other is part of what we call 'jeito brasileiro' the Brazilian way of doing things and a lot of that stems from lack of education.
Thanks as always for the comment.

I tried to post a comment - not sure if it's awaiting moderation or just disappeared into the ether. Anyway, thanks for the educating links on CFLs - I read them at length. I've learnt lots about how these bulbs work, which was very interesting, but I didn't find anything about them affecting brain function. There were other concerns raised, but by the end of my reading, I remain unconcerned about the risks.
ReplyDelete@Rachel, no, nothing awaiting moderation (only after the post is 14 days old). Happy to hear you found the info informative. The brain is effected by electromagnetic waves, TV remotes, wi-fi, cordless phones, cellphones, etc; and inc CFLs. All these emit electromagnetic waves, that's how they operate.
ReplyDeleteI am concerned, that's why I don't have wi-fi in the house or use the TV remote (I get up and change the channel) and I sleep with the cellphone in another room.
Thanks for your input, appreciated.
