I used to have many separate blogs, but rather than repeat that exercise for Google to destroy again, I have added the blogs as separate pages here on the Top Bar. I will add past posts as I recover them from other sources, but will also add new posts as the occasion arises; so always check, there's bound to be something new. .
For each CTWW & general Eco-Crap posts I will write an intro post here. Comments can them be left. Remember, I'm like the rest of you, I love comments.
Hey AV, I'm so sorry to hear the news about Eco Crap. That really sucks and I don't know what to say that could be of comfort.
Have you tried Google cache? You will be able to find some of your previous content on there if you want the arduous task of copying and pasting it in . I know that doesn't sound like much of a solution in there...
But for what it's worth your stuff isn't "lost". Some of what you have written has been very poignant for me, it's helped shape my perspective and given me the opportunity to think outside the box. So, ya know, even if YOU were to disappear into the ether along with that ol' website of yours, part of your words, thoughts, sharings will still live on...
@Rae, I know there is not a lot one can say, it's like a funeral when you are dumbstruck. I didn't know about Google cache, I will look around and see what that is. It is very gratifying to know that some of my past stuff has aroused interest and not been just waffle in the ethernet.
I don't know how it started that Americans began to stockpile stuff. Maybe it was as a result of the depression when folks didn't have enough of anything ... afterward, when things became available again, people stockpiled so that if it ever happened again, they wouldn't be caught short. Like so many things, it became a way of life. When I visited Venezuela for the first time, I was very aware of the difference in shopping habits. People simply didn't stockpile but rather walked to the market every day for what they needed. The whole concept seemed to simple ... and logical. It's funny how one doesn't "see" the possibilities until they literally see them. :-) It also makes me realize that many of the things we do in life are predicated by fear. In a way, that fear is what causes so many environmental problems ... fear of not having enough money, enough stuff, etc. Maybe if we didn't operate under fear, we could relax enough to let the environment be.
An "Eco-Crap" blog by any other name is still brilliant! :-)
@SF, thanks, I figured this was the best (and easiest) way to do it. You are right on the fear thing and the govt is playing on it to justify much of their mismanagement. Life is much simpler here, you are right people just go out and buy when they need. I guess that simplicity is one of the reasons that I love it here. Thanks for all the encouragement.
